I suppose this is straightforward but it apparently isn't (LOL).
A is for tournaments where the qualifying teams all advance to a further round with identical conditions. For example, all 4 teams qualify to the semifinals and all teams reset to zero wins, such as the aforementioned FIFA World Cup where all teams have the same number of wins to win the cup.
The clue on when to use this is if there's only one color used in the table, like there's only green1.
Q and T are used when qualifying teams advance to a further round with non-identical conditions (i.e., some teams advance to a further round over other teams, or to another competition altogether). See for example, Template:2023–24 UEFA Champions League group tables.
The clue on when to use this is if there are multiple hues of the same color, such as green1 and green2, or multiple colors, such as green1 and blue1.
