In 1991, the characters from "The Bob Newhart Show" reunited in a prime-time special, analyzing Bob's dream. During the exchange, the Hartleys' neighbor Howard Borden (Bill Daily) recalls "I had a dream like that once. I dreamed I was an astronaut in Florida for five years" as scenes from "I Dream of Jeannie" featuring Daily were interjected. The "five years" referenced "Jeannie's" 1966-71 run on NBC.

I couldn't find a good place for it in the two minutes I had to think about it. Hope someone finds it a new home (that is NOT mixed in randomly with "The Last Newhart" section).

These three characters were in the premiere episode of Newhart. They did not wait until Season 2 to show up. I'll admit that they may not have been prominent characters until Season 2, but they were in the show for its entire run. See imdb for verification of this. Newhart is still on television in reruns in Canada and Australia. Can someone post the channel info and times? Also does anyone have information regarding the lack of this show in the US? It is never on US television and not available on DVD. Is it under contractual dispute? I am writing an article about all of the series which are in the same shared reality as this one through spin-offs and crossovers. I could use a little help expanding the article since it is currently extremely dense and a bit jumbled with some sentence structures being extremely repetitive. Should probably be cut completely, as its OR. I've already cut the sentence that stated Kirk had to written out after Leslie left, because he had followed Leslie to Vermont. This is flat-out wrong. Kirk did *not* follow Leslie to Vermont -- it's clearly established on numerous occasions that he was there for at least a year or two before the start of the series. Leslie, meanwhile, didn't arrive in Vermont until the first episode, when she and Kirk met for the very first time.

Does the ending mean just that one episode is a dream, or was the entire series a dream? If just that episode how did he dream about the life of another bob that looks similar but also is a real person. It must mean the entire series was a dream. The widely-reviled Last Episode of St. Elsewhere had a similar theme: the whole series was a meaningless dream. In contrast, 3 years later this became a legendary finale.I remember critics commenting on it but I don't have a reference so can't put it in the article. I notice Utley/Poston appears twice in the main cast list. I also can't see Kirk/Kampmann in the table, shouldn't he be a main character for series 1 & 2(he does appear in the info box)? Also - and it's a matter of opinion I suppose - I wondered if Mr Rusnak counts as a minor recurring character; he certainly turned up in a few episodes in the last series I think. Equally, was Buffy really a recurring character throughout and as co-host? Tried to fix it myself but couldn't. Peter Scolari was recurring in the 2nd season, appearing in two episodes, and became part of the main cast in the 3rd season. The table shorts him a year. Hopefully someone can fix it. There is another wikipedia page with a list of episodes. I can't see it linked from here - should it be? If so where? Sorry, but I don;t know how to add a link into the article.

In the premise section someone has added a "better source needed" tag. Can anyone clarify what it is that needed better sourcing? Is it that the they took over the Stratford Inn or that the Inn was 200 years old? If the former then surely that is self-evident from the show itself. If the latter then the sign regularly shown shows it as being opened in 1774. Perhaps that isn't a good source - but since it is a fictional TV programme anyway, I am not sure what could be acceptable. There is even one early episode where the plot confirms is to be a "colonial era inn" - just not that special!

Davis Pressman appeared as Mr. Rusnak in nine episodes. That's the same as Miss Goddard, and more than Bev or Dr. Kaiser. I’m just going to come right out and say I’m really disappointed in this article’s structure and gaping holes in information. I mean two short paragraphs on the premise, a list of characters, then straight to the last show? What the heck?! While the final episode was and still is arguably one of the best of all time, there is a HECK of a lot more to the show than that. What about character changes? By the end of the show many of the main characters had been replaced yet this article doesn’t address any of that. What about the fact that most of the geographical references are of New Hampshire as well as the opening scenes being of NH (taken from On Golden Pond released a year before the premiere)? IMO that’s pretty shabby for an article about a landmark show like this. I get the feeling few of the editors here have actually seen the show or know anything about New England. Either that or just didn’t notice any of this.
