Formulation section
The first sentence involving the variable s was deleted for several reasons. First of all, it is misplaced, since the variable s does not appear anywhere else in the Formulation section. Moreover, making an analogy between global and local zeta functions will be confusing to all but those experts who know a formulation in terms of schemes which encompasses both kinds. Soon I'll insert a remark in the Motivations section that will (I hope) make the analogy clearer. Mathtyke (talk) 10:55, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
