We can't avoid making at least a passing mention of his activism, which sadly includes support for an academic boycott of research from Israel. In the spirit of frank and open discussion and in adherance to the rules of Wiki, please provide evidence of your assertion that Dr Chalmers supports an academic boycott of research from Israel. If you are unable to do so then you should remove your rather inflamatory comment CTMB08:41, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2007-08-10T08:41:00.000Z","author":"CTMB","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-CTMB-2007-08-10T08:41:00.000Z-Jfdwolff-2007-05-28T20:32:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

This comment "Here" is somewhat disingenuous. In the letter cited, which should be read in full, Chalmers begins "I did not join the academic boycott of Israel while I was director of the UK Cochrane Centre because this would have been inconsistent with my explicit offer of support for people in Israel who want to contribute to the Cochrane Collaboration". Later in the letter he refers to "...cheap and predictable charges of anti-Semitism ... against anyone who calls on the Israeli state to observe its responsibilities as a signatory of the fourth Geneva Convention."Gordoncph (talk) 13:38, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-06-11T13:38:00.000Z","author":"Gordoncph","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Gordoncph-2009-06-11T13:38:00.000Z-Jfdwolff-2007-08-12T08:56:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
Edit: the names of the European academics who do publicly support the boycott, and their rationale for doing so can be found in this open letter to The Guardian UK newspaper. Sir Iain has also been hunting down a Croatian plagiarist. This was his editorial.
