Dubious

My vague understanding of the term "5-fold coverage" is that each fragment of analyzed DNA sequence is covered by 5 or more samples, increasing the probability that the assembled sequence is in the correct order, with no missing pieces. The "fold" is used in the way one might say you have a 5-fold increase of harm if you do some dangerous activity five times, as opposed to once. There is no such thing as "fold coverage".
