Merging with Subcooling article
Subcooled redirects to Compressed fluid and Subcooling has a dedicated article. Both articles cover essentially the same subject of fluids compressed and cooled far below their boiling point, and various applications thereof. I would therefore suggest to merge the articles but I'm not enough of an expert to do it myself. Opinions? — JFG talk 12:51, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- This is all a bit of a mess. My summary from reading the articles is that Subcooling describes a liquid where the temperature is below the 'normal' boiling point, whereas the Compressed fluid articles described the state where either the pressure is higher than 'normal' (leading the substance being in the liquid state) or the temperature is below the 'normal' boiling point. To my amateur understanding of thermodynamics, the quite broad Compressed fluid definition seems counterintuitive; however, the Subcooling article focusses particularly on some applications in refrigeration, without perhaps considering the topic more broadly. Can someone check the sources (books), or find an alternative source for the definition of Compressed fluid; perhaps that would help resolve this matter. In the interim, I've boldly changed the redirects from Subcooled, Subcooled fluid, Subcooled liquid and Unsaturated liquid to Subcooling as this seems like the more appropriate target until the issue of a merge is resolved. Overall, I oppose the merge as a subcooled fluid is independently notable of Compressed fluid, even if the former is a subset of the latter. Klbrain (talk) 17:46, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
