Don't know if I'm doing this right, but: the picture on this page is not of a butter cookie. It is of a palmier, which is made of puff pastry, not butter cookie dough. It should be replaced. Why is there no Danish article? the Danish article is here: Småkage. Småkage means cookie in Danish and they also includes Danish Butter Cookies. In Denmark "Butter cookies" are just called småkager (cookies), usually there is no distinction. If producers wants to emphasize the use of butter, they sometimes use the name smørbagte småkager literally translating as "butter-baked cookies", but as said, there is seldom any distinction. For export on the other hand, Danish Butter Cookie is used almost exclusively.

Now, Danish Butter cookies are not a brand name, nor does it imply Danish origin, it has just become a type of cookie. Much like Danish pastry. But Denmark does indeed have a proportionally large export of tins with Danish Butter Cookies, primarily to Asia and the US.

I think the article needs more and better references to this info, I thin we can agree on that. I tried to look something up on Google, but it was hard to find anything useful in English, a lot of info in Danish though, including sales numbers. I will have a short look at it now, and see what can be included for better reffing. You are of course welcome to improve the article and find good refs yourself, that would be great. And I can assure you that the info is accurate. Back. I have put up a few refs now. I can read here (Kelsen Group solgt til amerikansk fødevaregigant) though, that the largest Danish producer and exporter of Danish Butter Cookies from Denmark (Kelsen Group) was sold to the international corporation Campbell Soup Company in 2013. Their headquarters are still in Denmark, but this case can certainly raise doubt about where Danish Butter Cookies from that particular firm are now produced. Danish Butter Cookies are still an important export article in Denmark nevertheless.
