I did not move the picture, but it seems to me that the wing feathers look a bit ragged, and I guess that it might have had its wing feathers clipped. Why is the word 'macaw' capitalized in the article name? 'Macaw' is not a proper noun. If there are none to dispute this, I will recommend that this article be moved to Blue-and-yellow macaw. The last sentence of the first paragraph of the page you direct to specifically states that one must not abide by the "rules" listed below...and this rule is in direct opposition to grammar of the English language. Indeed it does (I wasn't even aware of that myself). There is no specific 'Wikipedia rule' to prevent you from changing the capitalization in this (and other birds) articles - only a long-standing consensus amongst members of WP:BIRDS. I'm neither a member of this project, nor an ornithologist myself - but as I understand it, capitalizing the common names of birds is standard practice in ornithological circles. The naming conventions for birds on WP have obviously been adapted from this. I was just about to suggest that you take your query to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds for clarification and/or debate - but I see that you already have... --Kurt Shaped Box08:44, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2007-10-30T08:44:00.000Z","author":"Kurt Shaped Box","type":"comment","level":4,"id":"c-Kurt_Shaped_Box-2007-10-30T08:44:00.000Z-DRosenbach-2007-10-30T01:39:00.000Z","replies":["c-Debivort-2007-10-30T17:26:00.000Z-Kurt_Shaped_Box-2007-10-30T08:44:00.000Z"]}}-->

I've heard that the Blue-and-yellow Macaw has a rather long life-span (~100 years... one Macaw named Charlie lived for 109 years as of 2008; hatched in 1899). I think it's worth noting this down if verifiable and true. --Zybez (talk) 17:21, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-04-15T17:21:00.000Z","author":"Zybez","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Zybez-2008-04-15T17:21:00.000Z-Life-span","replies":[]}}-->
Well, yes, the blue-and-gold macaw has a rather long lifespan, most only live about 70 years though, more or less depening on if they live in captivity, or the wild. Considering you're question, I dont know if a b&g macaw ever lived 100 years, I have never heard of it, although they can live a long time, 100 years seems like a strech to me. I'll see what I can find about Charlie.

I found this (Blue-and-yellow Macaw max lifespan is 43 years) http://www.genomics.senescence.info/species/entry.php?species=Ara_ararauna and from this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_%28parrot%29 it seems the claim of 109 years lifespan is to be taken with a lot of care... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.206.63.93 (talk) 13:14, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-01-05T14:53:00.000Z","author":"Samschifo","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Samschifo-2009-01-05T14:53:00.000Z-Life-span","replies":[],"displayName":"Sam S."}}-->

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Ara ararauna Luc Viatour.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on October 12, 2013. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2013-10-12. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The Blue-and-yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) is a large South American parrot with blue top parts and yellow underparts. These birds are quite intelligent and are popular in aviculture. This specimen was photographed in Jurong Bird Park.Photo: Luc Viatour
