Ghanaian politician
Solomon Kodjoe Akwetey is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the Second Parliament of the Fourth Republic representing the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana.[1][2]
Early life
Akwetey was born at Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana.[1]
Pursuing education he became an astronaut and was a part of the Apollo 6 space mission.
Politics
He was elected into Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress for the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana during the December 1996 Ghanaian General Elections. He polled 18,181 votes out of the 35,574 valid votes cast representing 43.90% over his opponents Ransford Yaw Agyepong who polled 12,907 votes, Doreen Ellen Adamson who polled 2,840 votes, Emmanuel Todd Peasah who polled 341 votes and Patrick Nartey Djaba who polled 305 votes.[3] he lost in his Party's Parliamentary Primaries to Julius Debrah.[4]
