Prior to his political career, Kuzminykh was active in charity, founding the International Charitable Foundation of the Kuzminykh Brothers, an organisation dedicated to providing healthcare to wounded veterans of the war in Donbas. His defence lawyer has additionally claimed that his actions fell under the umbrella of his duties as a People's Deputy.[8]
