Sandeep Reddy is an Australian medical informatician, health program evaluator, and academic specialising in artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. He currently serves as Professor and Head of Discipline, Healthcare Management at Queensland University of Technology.[1] He is recognised as a certified health informatician and health executive and has earned fellowships from prestigious institutions, including the Australasian Institute of Digital Health, Australasian College of Health Service Management, and the European Academy of Translational Medicine Professionals.[2]
Academic and Professional Career
Reddy is since 2024 a Professor and Head of Discipline for Healthcare Management at Queensland University of Technology. His teaching and research focus on the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare and management methodologies. Previously, he held a faculty position as Associate Professor at Deakin University, Geelong, where he specialised in medical informatics and program evaluation.[3] In addition to his academic roles, Reddy has served in several leadership and advisory capacities, including chairing the Central Australian Human Research Ethics Committee and membership on the Barwon Health Human Research Ethics Committee.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Reddy is the Chairman of Centre for Advancement of Translational AI in Medicine, an organisation based in the United States of America. This organisation is focused on progressing the application of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.[4] Sandeep is also the Chairman of Healea Pty Ltd, an organisation based in Australia, which is focused on translational AI applications in medicine and digital product development.[5] Sandeep is credited with leading various innovative projects, including a program evaluation and compliance audit software. He is also responsible for pioneering a virtual behavioural modification application for chronic disease patients using artificial intelligence.[6]

Reddy has authored multiple books, including a widely referenced textbook on artificial intelligence in healthcare.[7][8] His work is cited by organisations such as the US Government, WHO, and the Australian and New Zealand governments. His published works have explored topics from AI governance in healthcare to program evaluation, contributing to the literature across journals.[9] He is credited to have been a pioneer in introducing 'Governance' and comprehensive 'Evaluation' frameworks to the application of AI in healthcare.[10][11] Further, he is acknowledged to have coined the terms 'Algorithmic Medicine' and 'Translational AI in Healthcare'.[12]

Reddy is recognised by the World Health Organization as a digital health expert, having contributed to the organization's Digital Health Roster of Experts and the AI for Health Focus Group.[13] His contributions to healthcare and public health have earned him multiple accolades. He received the Global Achievers Award from the Indian Achievers Forum in 2021 and a formal acknowledgement by the UK Faculty of Public Health for his role in the COVID-19 response.
