P. hakkiarica is a small, thorny tree. Young shoots are glabrous. Leaves are up to 7 cm long, 4-5 cm wide. Leaf margins can be crenate or serrate, but are mostly entire. Leaves are broadly ovate. Even on a single stem, leaves may take different forms. Upper and lower surfaces of the leaf are green and glabrous. Leaf base is cordate and mostly flat, but sometimes elliptic-ovate and rounded. Petioles are 2.5 to 5 cm. One to three fruits, pyriform, up to 3 cm, with persistent calyx. Fruit stems are thick and 3 to 5 cm in length.[4]
