Pongwe (Kata ya Pongwe, in Swahili) is an administrative ward in Tanga City Council of Tanga Region in Tanzania. Kiomoni encircles the ward on its northern side. Maweni forms the eastern boundary of the ward. The Marungu is to the south. The Muheza ward of Ngomeni is to the west. The ward covers an area of 77.5 km2 (29.9 sq mi),[1] and has an average elevation of 74 m (243 ft).[2] According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 13,513.[3]
