Mount Hope Cemetery is a cemetery in San Diego, California . It is believed to be named for its rolling hills and distant bay views; the community of Mount Hope adopted the name as well. It is adjacent to Greenwood Memorial Park .
History

Founded in 1869 on what was then the outskirts of New Town , Mount Hope now covers approximately 115 acres (0.47 km2 ). Its design is an example of a rural cemetery , in architecture, art and landscaping.[ 1] The city of San Diego manages and maintains it, providing perpetual care to all burial sites. The rolling hills contain monuments to some of the city's most notable former residents.
