As of June 2021, Nishiya was ranked fifth in the Olympic World Skateboarding rankings, and qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics.[1][7] She competed in the women's street competition, where she scored 15.26 and won the gold medal.[8] At the age of 13 years and 330 days, she became the youngest Olympic gold medalist for Japan, and the third youngest gold medalist in Olympic history.[9]
Nishiya competed at the X Games California 2023 in the women's street event where she scored 86.66 and won a bronze medal.[10][11]
