Bangladeshi academic
Md. Jahangir Alam is a Bangladeshi academic, earthquake expert, and vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology.[1][2]
Alam is the former vice-chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology. Alam is the former vice-chancellor of University of Science and Technology Chittagong.
Early life
Alam was born on 30 November 1960 in Chittagong District, East Pakistan.[3][4] He graduated from Gasbaria NG High School and Chittagong College in 1976 and 1978 respectively.[3] He did his bachelor's degree in engineering at Chittagong Engineering College. In 1991, he completed his master's degree in engineering in Structural Engineering.[3] He completed his PhD in 1994.[3] He completed a diploma degree at the Asian Institute of Technology on Finite Element.[3]
Career
From 2012 to 2014, Alam was the vice chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology.[3]
Alam was the vice chancellor of University of Science and Technology Chittagong from 2019 to 2023.[3] On 20 August 2023, Alam was appointed the vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology.[5] He replaced Md. Rafiqul Islam Sheikh one year after his term ended.[5][6]
