^ The notation Old Style or (OS ) is sometimes used to indicate a date in the Julian Calendar (which is used by churches on the "Old Calendar" ). The notation New Style or (NS ) , indicates a date in the Revised Julian calendar (which is used by churches on the "New Calendar" ).
^ The only evidence for the life of Saint Crescentiana is a church in Rome dedicated to her that was already extant at the time of Pope Symmachus (498-514) (Benedictines ).[ 14]
^ St Barlaam and his holy icon are venerated in Ukraine by those afflicted with the inclination to drinking; their friends and relatives also invoke his intercession on their behalf.[ 18]
