The brig was driven ashore at South Foreland , Kent . She was on a voyage from Portsmouth , Hampshire to Sunderland, County Durham . Hope was later refloated and take into Ramsgate , Kent.[ 47]

The ship was abandoned in the North Sea. Her crew were rescued by the Whitby Lifeboat. She was on a voyage from Newcastle upon Tyne , Northumberland to Rochester, Kent . Matilda was taken into Whitby , Yorkshire on 24 December.[ 21] [ 46]
