Geography

Lakeshore Gardens-Hidden Acres is located at 28°7′34″N 97°51′55″W / 28.12611°N 97.86528°W / 28.12611; -97.86528 (28.126223, -97.865371).^[2] According to the United States Census Bureau, this census-designated place has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.1 km²), of which 2.0 square miles (5.1 km²) is land and 0.51% is water.

As of the census^[1] of 2000, there were 720 people, 303 households, and 212 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 368.7 inhabitants per square mile (142.4/km²). There were 429 housing units at an average density of 219.7 per square mile (84.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 87.50% White, 1.39% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 8.06% from other races, and 2.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 28.33% of the population.

There were 303 households, out of which 24.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 24.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.83.

In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
