A topographic map prepared by the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) of the University of Berne, Switzerland names the river "Kuru" for its entire length.[2]
OpenStreetMap names the river "Chel" up to 8°48′50″N26°55′27″E / 8.8138°N 26.9241°E / 8.8138; 26.9241 north, where it is joined by an unnamed river from the right, and names it "Kuru" north of this point.[3]
