Kumbh Mela 2015 was held in Nashik,Maharastra,India and Trimbakeshwar,Maharastra,India with expected pilgrim strength of 80 lakhs to 1 crore and 25 to 30 lakhs respectively during the period of one year as part of celebration. The festival is considered as largest gathering of people from across the world for the holy bath.The festival which is held every three years on rotational basis includes the cities of Allahabad,Ujjjain and Prayagraj in addition to Nashik and hence each city gets festival after a gap of 12 years.
Significance
Kumbh Mela 2015,with expected participation of 30 million pilgrims from worldwide,[1] was inaugrated at Trimbakeshwar[2] by Maharastra Chief Minister Mr Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Union Minister Rajnath singh with prayer,the blowing of 'shankhanad' (conch shell),showering of flower petals[3] and the traditional flag hoisting at historic Ramkund in Nashik and at Kushavarat in Trimbakeshwar, both venues being 45 kms away, amidst tight security.[4][5] The festival which is held once in 3 years in rotational basis across four cities, the others being Allahabad,Haridwar and Ujjain, is held in Nashik after 12 years.[6]

- July 14 - Main ceremony flag hoisting at Ram Kunda
- July 14 - Akhara flag hoisting at Sadhugram
- August 26 - First Snan for Shravan Sudha
- August 29 - First Shahi Snan at Ram Kunda for Shravan Purnima
- September 13 - Second Shahi Snan or Main Bathing day for Bhadrapad Amavasya
- September 18 - Third Shahi Snan or Main Bathing day for Bhadrapad Shukla Panchmi (Rushipanchami)
- September 25 - Vaman Dwadashi Snan for Bhadrapad Shukla Dwadashi
Infrastructure
Kumbh Mela 2015 had an infrastructure cost of Rs 2500 by Maharastra Government for various amenities like water,power,lodging,security,transport etc towards various micro and macro projects across 22 departments.[8]
