Joe Royer is an American football tight end for the Cincinnati Bearcats . He previously played for the Ohio State Buckeyes .
Early life and high school
Royer attended Elder High School located in Cincinnati, Ohio . He was rated as a three-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Arizona State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.[ 1] Ultimately, Royer committed to play college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes .[ 2]
College career
Ohio State
Royer was redshirted during his freshman season in 2020. During Royer's three-year career at Ohio State from 2021 to 2023, he appeared in 14 games for the Buckeyes where he hauled in four receptions for 24 yards.[ 3] [ 4] [ 5] After the 2023 season, Royer entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal .[ 6]
Cincinnati
Royer transferred to play for the Cincinnati Bearcats .[ 7] In the 2024 season opener, he hauled in receptions for 89 yards in a win over Towson . In week four, Royer hauled in three receptions for 41 yards in a win over Houston .[ 8]
