Fauziyah worked as a high school teacher before serving as a lawmaker in parliament from 1999 to 2018.[3] She also served as leader of the women’s branch of the Nahdlatul Ulama, Indonesia’s biggest Muslim group.[4]
During her time in government, Fauziyah notably led efforts to lift a temporary freeze on sending its migrant workers to Malaysia in 2022, after both countries ironed out concerns surrounding workers' rights.[6]
Since 2023, Fauziyah has been a member of the United Nations High-Level Panel on the Teaching Profession, co-chaired by Kersti Kaljulaid and Paula-Mae Weekes.[7]
