Freeway Insurance Services America, LLC, or Freeway Insurance, is an American insurance agency with over 550 retail locations in the United States.[1][2] The company sells primarily non-standard auto insurance,[3][4] which is required for new and higher risk drivers. The company's headquarters is in Huntington Beach, California.[5][6]
History
Freeway Insurance was founded in 1987 by Kelly Turton in Orange County, California.[7] Initially, the company’s focus was private passenger automobile insurance,[7] which was then acquired by Westline Corp.,[7] which was then acquired by Confie,[8] one of the largest privately held insurance brokers in the United States[9] and a portfolio company of private equity firm ABRY Partners, in 2008.[10] Freeway Insurance has expanded through acquisitions made by Confie, including Colyer Insurance,[11] DeFranco Insurance,[12] CW Baker Insurance, and Lewiston Insurance.[13]
In April 2021, Alliant insurance agreed to buy Confie, which includes Freeway Insurance.[17]
Operations
Freeway predominantly sells within the non-standard auto insurance market.[4][7] As of 2020, it sells home owners and renter’s insurance, health insurance,[1][6][18] and motorcycle insurance.[19] Freeway Insurance also provides insurance to high-risk drivers with poor driving records.[20] There are 503 Freeway Insurance locations in the United States, with retail offices in 22 states.[21]
Since 2008, Freeway Insurance has operated in English and Spanish, and nearly 50% of its customers identify themselves as Hispanic or Latino.[22][23] Freeway reports that nearly 70 percent of their insurance agents are multilingual. Freeway predominantly sells within the non-standard auto insurance market.[3] In June 2024, Freeway Insurance announced an Excellent Rating on Trustpilot Globally Recognized Customer Review Platform. which is Trustpilot's highest recognition for customer satisfaction based on over 2,700 customer experience reviews.[10][16][17]

In 2021, Freeway Insurance announced they would begin offering franchise opportunities to further develop their retail locations in the United States,[26][27] In May 2024, Freeway had opened 31 locations, including: 17 in California, four locations in Florida, and Georgia and Tennessee have two units and Illinois, South Carolina, and Colorado have one each. Freeway offers franchise locations to Veterans at a discount. In Aug 2024, they expanded with six new franchises in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and California.[3][28]
Freeway Insurance has also been an official partner of the LA GalaxyMajor League Soccer team since 2021.[30] In 2024, the company expanded its partnerships to include LAFC, Chicago Fire, and Houston Dynamo.[31][32]
