Eze Nri Namoke was the second king of the Nri Kingdom. According to Igbo oral tradition, his reign started in 1090 and ended in 1158.[1][2]

History

After a brief power-struggle in the kingdom after the death of Eze Nri Ifikuanim, Nàmóke took lead of the kingdom as Eze. He migrated from Amanuke and established a settlement beside the Agulu lake, near Agukwu.[3] He introduced a new power structure in the Nri kingdom that would contribute in the development of Nri politics. He became Nri after claiming to have derived inspiration from his grandfather Eri.[1]
