The building was abandoned by NJ Transit in 1986. The Waldwick Historical Society refurbished it during the early 2000s and in 2016 they completed the project.[5]

The Paterson and Ramapo Railroad was constructed from Paterson to the outskirts of Suffern, New York in 1848. Combined with the Paterson and Hudson River Railroad (completed a few years earlier), it created a link between the Erie Railroad at Suffern to the Paterson and Hudson River Railroad Ferry in Jersey City.
