Draft talk:StarBeast

Conflict of interest declaration

Conflict of interest disclosure

I am a co-author of the first two versions of the software described in this article. I was involved in the development of *BEAST (Heled & Drummond, 2010) and StarBEAST2 (Ogilvie, Bouckaert & Drummond, 2017), two of the three versions covered here. To comply with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline, I have not created the article directly in mainspace but am submitting this draft through Articles for Creation so that an independent reviewer evaluates it before publication. I welcome edits and scrutiny from uninvolved editors. Alexei.drummond (talk) 02:41, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Resubmission note

The draft was declined for lacking independent secondary sources establishing notability. To address this, I have added a "Reception and use" section citing independent reviews that discuss *BEAST/StarBEAST specifically:

  • Jiao, Flouri & Yang (2021), National Science Review — describe *BEAST
and BPP as the two Bayesian multispecies-coalescent programs in common use.
  • Rannala, Edwards, Leaché & Yang (2020), Phylogenetics in the Genomic Era
identify *BEAST as a standard full-likelihood implementation of the model.
  • Liu, Wu & Yu (2015), Journal of Systematics and Evolution — review it among
 coalescent species-tree methods.
  • Chou et al. (2015), BMC Genomics — use it as a reference point in a
 method-comparison study.

These are independent of the software's developers. Two empirical applications have also been added as illustrations of use. My conflict of interest remains as disclosed above. Alexei.drummond (talk) 07:03, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
