Yonok Chronicle (Thai: พงศาวดารโยนก) is a northern Thai historical chronicle connected to the early Royal Chronicles of Siam compiled by Phraya Prachakitkorachak (Chaem Bunnag) [th]. It was first serialized in the Wachirayan Newspaper (หนังสือพิมพ์วชิรญาณ) between 1898–1899 CE and later collected and edited into a single volume in 1907 under the title History of Yonok (เรื่องพงษาวดารโยนก). Prince Damrong Rajanubhab subsequently revised the work and renamed it Chronicle of Lao Chiang (พงษาวดารลาวเฉียง), reflecting the status of Lan Na as the Monthon Lao Chiang [th] at the time. The first printing under this new title appeared in 1917.

The contents include the Legend of Suwanna Khom Kham [th], the Legend of Singhanavati, the founding of Haripuñjaya and the Cāmadevivaṃsa, the story of Hiran Nakhon Chiang Saen, the Piṅgavaṃśa (ตำนานพิงควงศ์), the Jinakalamali, the Chronicle of Chiang Mai, the Legend of Chiang Rai, the Legend of Nan, the Legend of the Emerald Buddha, and the Legend of the Relics of Doi Tung (ตำนานพระธาตุดอยตุง), among others.[1] The book is divided into six sections:

  • Souvannakhomkham [th] – concerning the Khom era
  • Yonok – concerning the Tai era
  • Hariphunchai – concerning the Mon era
  • Ping Wong – concerning the Lao era
  • Meng Wong – concerning the Mon and Bagan eras
  • Thip Wong – concerning the Siamese era[2]
