Vikalp is an edtech company established in 2010 with a focus on transforming K–12 education.[1][2]
History
Vikalp India was established in 2010 by Dinesh Gupta and Neha Choudhry.[3][4]
Vikalp's mission is to replace traditional blackboard teaching methods with engaging, hands-on learning experiences in the classroom. So far, Vikalp's experiential learning program has been successfully adopted by over 300 private schools and government schools of three Indian states.[1]
Vikalp has involved in government school initiatives across Karnataka, Delhi, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.[5]
Since May 2015, Vikalp started Vikalp Online School (VOS) enrolling students from all around the globe including India, Europe, the US, and the Middle East.[6] VOS students can select either the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) or the CBSE board for their Class X and XII board exams.[7]
In November 2015, Vikalp has raised equity funding from a New York-based fund Acumen.[6] and Debt funding from Canara Bank and Grameen Impact.[8]
