The Demand is a villainous professional wrestling stable in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), led by Ricochet. The group consists of Ricochet and the tag team Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona).[1]
The alliance was first established on August 24, 2025, at Forbidden Door 2025. During the Zero Hour pre-show, Ricochet teamed with Gates of Agony to defeat JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey) and Michael Oku.[2] Later in the event, the trio interfered in The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW World Tag Team Championship defense, costing them the titles and beginning a rivalry between the groups.[3]
The group was officially named The Demand on September 20, 2025, at All Out 2025 in Toronto. Wearing matching gear for the first time, the trio defeated the Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin) in a trios match, with Ricochet scoring the pinfall over MVP after hitting the "Spirit Gun."[4]
Background
In mid-2025, Ricochet began shifting his approach in AEW after struggling to break into the championship picture on his own. In promos, he suggested that to pursue championship success he might need to align himself with others who shared his ambitions.[2] This development set the stage for a partnership with Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona), a powerhouse tag team previously associated with Ring of Honor’s Embassy faction.[5]
The alliance was first tested on August 24, 2025, at Forbidden Door 2025 in London, where Ricochet teamed with Kaun and Liona during the Zero Hour pre-show. The trio defeated JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey) and Michael Oku.[2] Later in the event, they interfered in The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW World Tag Team Championship defense, costing the Syndicate the titles and establishing themselves as a new villainous force within AEW.[3]
In the weeks following Forbidden Door, Ricochet and Gates of Agony continued to appear together on Dynamite and Collision. They primarily targeted the Hurt Syndicate, interrupting promos and interfering in matches. During this period, Ricochet framed the group’s philosophy as one of taking opportunities rather than waiting for them, describing their rise as not a challenge but “a demand.”[4] The trio also challenged The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe, and Powerhouse Hobbs) for the AEW World Trios Championship, though they were unsuccessful.[6]
By the time of All Out 2025 on September 20, 2025, the partnership was formally presented as a permanent faction. At the event in Toronto, Ricochet and Gates of Agony introduced their official name, The Demand, entering with matching gear and defeating the Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin) in a trios match. Ricochet pinned MVP after hitting the "Spirit Gun," marking the faction’s official establishment in AEW.[4]
History
Formation and early actions (August–September 2025)
The origins of the faction trace back to AEW × NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 on August 24, 2025. During the event’s Zero Hour pre-show, Ricochet teamed with Gates of Agony members Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona to defeat the team of JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) and Michael Oku.[7]
Later that night, the trio interfered in The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW World Tag Team Championship defense, costing the Syndicate the titles and igniting a rivalry between the two factions.[8]
In the weeks that followed, Ricochet and Gates of Agony appeared together on Dynamite and Collision, repeatedly confronting the Hurt Syndicate in backstage brawls and run-ins.[9] On the September 3, 2025 episode of Dynamite, Ricochet & Gates of Agony unsuccessfully challenged The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs) for the AEW World Trios Championship, with interference from MVP playing a decisive role in the loss.[10]
At AEW All Out 2025 on September 20, 2025, the partnership was formally presented as a permanent faction. Wearing matching gear for the first time, the group was officially named The Demand and defeated the Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) in a trios match. Ricochet scored the pinfall over MVP after delivering the “Spirit Gun”, marking the faction’s official establishment in AEW.[11]
Feud with The Hurt Syndicate (2025–present)
Following their victory at All Out, The Demand continued their rivalry with the Hurt Syndicate. The Syndicate accused Ricochet’s group of robbing them of the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Forbidden Door, while The Demand emphasized that their emergence was not a challenge but a declaration.[12] The feud escalated with both groups engaging in confrontations and brawls on Dynamite and Collision, positioning the Hurt Syndicate as the roadblock to The Demand’s rise.[13] As of late September 2025 the program between the two stables remained ongoing, with further trios encounters and singles matches anticipated.[14]
