Staš Modic (born 11 October 1998) is a Slovenian archer. Competing in the compound bow category, Modic represents the Slovenia national team.[1][2] He won the bronze medal in the men's team compound event at the 2025 World Archery Championships and the silver medal in the men's team compound event at the 2026 European Archery Championships.[3][4]
Career
Modic competes internationally for Slovenia in compound archery. His World Archery profile lists his highest world ranking as 12th in men's compound, reached on 10 October 2022.[2] He has also competed in field archery, winning team medals at the World Archery Field Championships, including a team title in 2024.[2]
At the 2025 World Archery Championships held in Gwangju, South Korea, Modic won the bronze medal in the men's team compound event with Aljaž Matija Brenk and Tim Jevšnik. Slovenia qualified ninth with 2104 points. In the elimination rounds, the Slovenian team defeated Belgium 230–223 and Mexico 232–230, before reaching the medal matches. In the bronze-medal match, Slovenia defeated Turkey 233–232 to finish third.[3][5] The result was described as a historic bronze medal for Slovenia in the men's compound team event.[6]
At the 2026 European Archery Championships held in Antalya, Turkey, Modic won the silver medal in the men's team compound event with Aljaž Matija Brenk and Tim Jevšnik. Slovenia, seeded fifth, defeated Slovakia 236–226 in the round of 16, Italy 236–235 in the quarter-finals and Turkey 236–232 in the semi-finals. In the final, Slovenia lost 236–234 to France and finished as European runner-up.[4][7][8]
Modic was also part of the Slovenian men's compound team at the 2026 European Championships final session, where the team medal ranking placed France first, Slovenia second, Turkey third and Denmark fourth.[8]
