Scott Filip (born January 28, 1995) is an American former track and field athlete specializing in the decathlon and heptathlon, and a university professional in emergency management and security operations. He competed at the national and international level in combined events, including qualifying for the 2016 and 2021 United States Olympic Trials, before transitioning into campus safety and emergency preparedness work at The University of Texas at Austin.

Early life and education Filip attended Lake Park High School in Bloomingdale, Illinois, where he competed in track and field before enrolling at Rice University. At Rice, he competed for the Rice Owls men’s track and field team and developed into one of the program’s most accomplished combined‑events athletes.

Athletic career

Collegiate career at Rice University:

Filip specialized in the decathlon (outdoor) and heptathlon (indoor). During his collegiate career, he earned multiple NCAA All‑American honors and won seven Conference USA championships in combined events. He set conference and meet records and was recognized as Conference USA Field Athlete of the Year during his tenure with the program.
