SBSi is a South Korean new-media company and digital business subsidiary of the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS). It provides web-agency services—building and operating websites—for SBS's broadcast, radio, entertainment, sports, economy, and news channels, as well as major SBS affiliate companies, and also distributes SBS News content through web portals, social media, and YouTube.[1]

History

  • August 7, 2017 – SBS I&M established, spun off from the web-agency division of SBS Contents Hub[2]
  • 2019 – Launched the IMAD ad-stitching advertising platform and the Tpod broadcaster-alliance audio service, a joint audio platform of 13 South Korean broadcasters developed and operated by SBS I&M, distributing broadcast programs to AI speakers and mobile apps[2][3][4]
  • 2020 – Began operating as an AWS APN partner, providing cloud-based online video platform services[2][5]
  • 2022 – Renamed from SBS I&M to SBSi; relocated headquarters to the SBS Mokdong Broadcasting Center[2]
  • 2024 – Established a News Service Division, absorbing the news service division of SBS Digital News Lab[2] The division had previously handled news web-agency services, entertainment news, and digital news content production within SBS Digital News Lab.[6]
  • 2025 – Redesigned the Yonhap News platform; renewed the SBS Play app[2]

  • Mobile service platform – develops and operates apps including SBS Play, Gorealra (the SBS Radio app), SBS News, SBS Golf, and SBS Biz[7]
  • Cloud business – as an AWS APN partner, builds cloud-based platforms for SBS and other broadcasters such as PBC and Yonhap News[7]
  • Advertising business – operates a proprietary advertising platform for video, audio, and banner ads, and handles ad sales and agency work[7]
  • Digital content production – operates YouTube channels such as SBS News, Video Mug, and Sports Mug[7]

  • SBS Star (sbsstar.net) – an English-language entertainment news service for international audiences, launched in June 2017 and transferred to SBSi in 2023[9]
