Robin Collins is a Canadian-American actor, director, producer and editor. He is known for his work in both Canadian and American productions spanning three decades, including roles in Little Women [1](1994), X2: X-Men United (2003), The Hidebehind (2018), and collaborations with members of The Kids in the Hall comedy troupe.
Early Life and Education
Collins was born in San Diego, California to a British mother and was later naturalized as a Canadian citizen. He graduated from high school in 1996, where he studied alongside comedian JJ Whitehead under educator Phil Humble. During this period, he also trained under Richard Side, who would later appear in the Will Ferrell film Elf.
He earned a BFA from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, where his classmates included Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley) and Rebecca Henderson (Star Wars). During his university years, Collins studied under several notable instructors including Marcel Marceau and Dr. Jennifer Wise.

Early work (1991-2000)
Collins began his career in Canadian television, appearing in educational series Take Off! and its sequel Take Off Again! (1991-1995). His early film work included roles in Digger (1993) as a body double for Joshua Jackson, and a small role in Gillian Armstrong's Little Women (1994) alongside Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, and Susan Sarandon.
Transition to Los Angeles (2006-present)
In 2006, Collins relocated to Los Angeles, where he spent two decades building an extensive network across film and television. Over this period, he collaborated on-screen and behind the camera with an impressive roster of talent including Ron Perlman, Joel Murray, Brian Doyle-Murray, Paul Bellini, Scott Thompson, Catherine Tate, Tituss Burgess, Jay Leggett, Dave Foley, Sean Gunn, Anna Akana, Pat Casey, Jim Turner, Jim O'Heir, Lucy DeVito, Kenneth Hudson Campbell, Andy Dick, Peter Jason, David Pasquesi, Mitch Rouse, Bruce Payne, Rob Lowe, Eric Cole, Jeff Parise, Will Forte, Margret Cho, Michael Cera and Academy Award winner Christopher Allen Nelson.
His work has been overseen by Joe and Anthony Russo of Marvel Studios fame, as well as Josh Miller and Pat Casey, creators of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He has also had the distinction of working under legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.
Music Collaborations
During his early years in Los Angeles, Collins worked extensively with Tupac's music video director Gobi M. Rahimi on projects involving artists like Bubba Sparxxx and Young Dre the Truth. He also collaborated with Sam Speigel (AKA Squek E. Clean) - brother of Adam Speigel (AKA Director Spike Jonez) - on N.A.S.A. with George Clinton, Mya and Karen O, which utilized the last track recorded by the late O.D.B.
Additionally, Collins sang on long-time friend and musician Alexander Burke's album Magnolia Memoir, which he worked on with Mela Lee, creating the name.[3]
Independent Film Work
He later collaborated with director McManus Woodend on the indie film Rocksteppy (2017), which involved both David Lynch and Jeff "The Dude" Dowd in its development and production.[4]
Culinary Recognition
Collins' impact on the Los Angeles entertainment community extends beyond film and television. His name now appears on the menu at Burbank's beloved Bea Bea's restaurant, where "The Robin's Benedict" - a signature eggs benedict with bacon and hollandaise - a recipe he brought from Canada and has become a top seller.[5]
Comedy Work
Collins has maintained strong connections to the alternative comedy scene, particularly through his work with The Kids in the Hall members. He directed and starred in Scott Thompson's Fruit Blog (2011-2012), which earned a Canadian Comedy Award nomination.[6] He also served as assistant director and co-producer on the comedy film Live Nude Girls (2014), directed by Jay Leggett and featuring Dave Foley.[7]
