Rob Murray is a Scottish charity executive and Scout leader who serves as Director for Scotland at the British Red Cross..^[1]

Murray was born in Edinburgh and attended St Thomas of Aquins High School. He studied Community Education at the University of Edinburgh before reading a Master of Business Administration degree at Edinburgh Business School.

Murray has worked in leadership roles within Scotland's voluntary and humanitarian sectors. Prior to joining the British Red Cross, he served as chief executive of Cancer Support Scotland.^[2]

During the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, Murray served as deputy director of grassroots campaigns for the Better Together campaign, which advocated for Scotland to remain part of the United Kingdom.^[3][4]

In 2023, Murray was appointed Director for Scotland at the British Red Cross.^[5] In 2023, Murray commented on volunteering activity connected with the coronation of Charles III, including the involvement of British Red Cross volunteers supporting events across the United Kingdom.^[6]

In 2024, he participated in the launch of a Scottish humanitarian appeal for Disasters Emergencies Committee, supporting civilians affected by conflict in the Middle East alongside a coalition of Scottish charities.^[7]

Murray has held leadership roles within The Scouts in the United Kingdom, including responsibilities connected with international Scouting and global engagement.^[8]
