Draft:Overview AI

  • Comment: I have thoroughly reviewed the article after the decline and made sure that numbers, assumptions and extra descriptions that could read partial have been removed. I have kept the sources and cut down extra information to balance it out. The strongest sources are : VentureBeat, The Fabricator, Plant Engineering, HPCwire and TechCrunch. The company produces industrial machine vision solutions for manufacturing, which does not get that much mainstream press exposure versus other consumer facing products. I am happy to modify this further if needed. Georgeofthemingle (talk) 19:15, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: Please do not remove past AfC decline templates. These are left for future reviewers so that they can review your draft and check that any prior concerns have been addressed. Removing these templates can make it more difficult for your draft to be accepted. Thank you. —ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email) 02:03, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Overview AI (Overview Corporation) is a San Francisco-based automation machinery manufacturing company that develops AI machine vision systems for quality inspection in the manufacturing industry.[1][2] Its technology features edge-based compute and deep-learning-based AI models that identify defects on the production line.[3] Its products include the OV10i and OV20i vision sensors, the OV80i vision system, the OVX vision platform, and the OV Auto-Defect Creator Studio.[4]

History

The company was founded in December 2018 by former Tesla engineers.[5][1] Overview AI was part of Y Combinator's Winter 2019 batch.[6] The co-founders have stated that the inception of Overview AI was driven by the data bottlenecks that they saw firsthand in the manufacturing industry.[1] Early customers of Overview AI included medical device manufacturers.[5]

In February 2022, Overview AI raised $10 million in its Series A funding round. Blumberg Capital, GV, Momenta and Bain backed the company, raising around $20 million in total.[1][7][8]

In 2022, Overview AI partnered with Advantech to combine its deep-learning inspection software with Advantech's ICAM-500 edge hardware.[9][10] Later, the company became a part of Nvidia's Metropolis program.[11] Overview AI has a headquarters in San Francisco and an office in Shanghai, China.[12]

In June 2026, Overview AI launched the OVX inspection platform family, which includes options for high-resolution and thermal inspection.[13] At Automate 2026, the company presented the OV Auto-Defect Creator Studio, which generates synthetic defects for training.[2] Nvidia has documented Overview AI's use of its Cosmos models and an agent skill to create synthetic training data for Amphenol.[14]
