Overview

Onnit is an American health and wellness company based in Austin, Texas.[1] In 2021, it was acquired by Unilever.[1]

History

Onnit was founded in 2010 by Aubrey Marcus.[2] A 2020 media profile described the company as being co-owned by Marcus and podcaster Joe Rogan.[3]

In April 2021, Unilever announced it would acquire Onnit for undisclosed terms. Unilever and Reuters reported the company would continue to be based in Austin and led by CEO Jason Havey, with Marcus remaining a brand ambassador.[4][1]

Products

Reuters described Onnit as producing dietary supplements, including Alpha BRAIN and other products.[1]

Research

Alpha BRAIN has been evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in 2016.[5] A related study record is listed in ClinicalTrials.gov.[6]

In 2024, a proposed class-action lawsuit alleged that marketing claims for Alpha BRAIN were misleading; the allegations were described in contemporaneous reporting.[7] A law-firm analysis published in 2025 stated that the Lotz v. Onnit Labs, Inc. matter was dismissed with prejudice, and discussed the dismissal’s implications for similar claims.[8]
