Mortimer L. Stone (January 15, 1882 – January 20, 1978)[1][2] was an associate justice of the Colorado Supreme Court from 1945 to 1955.
Born in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, to Norman Clark and Alice Amelia (Webster) Stone, he received a B.A. from Colgate University in 1904 followed by an LL.B. from New York Law School in 1910. He gained admission to the bar in Colorado in 1911, and practiced for various periods in Paonia, Delta, and Denver.[3]
"A 1910 graduate of New York Law School, Stone also attended Colgate and Columbia Universities. Stone was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1910 and practiced law in Delta from 1910 to 1922, while serving as Delta County Attorney".[1]
Stone "was elected to the Supreme Court in 1944 and served a single 10-year term. He was ousted in 1954".[2]
In 1963, he received a 50-year pin from the Masons.[3]
"Stone went into private practice in Denver until his retirement in 1974. He also served as a referee for the National Mediation Board and for the National Railroad Adjustment Board".[2]

Stone moved to Oakdale, California, in 1977, where he died the following year following a long illness, at the age of 96.[2]
