Mobius MD

Mobius MD is an American privately held healthcare technology company based in San Antonio, Texas. Founded in 2012, the company develops software for medical transcription and clinical documentation. Its primary products include Conveyor AI, an artificial intelligence-based medical scribe, and Mobius Conveyor, a platform-agnostic dictation system designed to work across multiple electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

History

Mobius MD was founded in 2012 by Adam Strom and Erin Rokey in San Antonio, Texas.[1][2] The company initially focused on developing mobile healthcare applications intended to interface with existing EMR workflows.

In 2017, the company released Mobius Conveyor, a universal medical dictation solution. Unlike traditional medical dictation software that often requires local installation or is limited to specific operating systems, Conveyor uses a mobile-to-desktop connection via QR codes or specialized USB hardware.[3] This architecture allowed the software to function on macOS, a platform with historically limited support from major medical dictation vendors.[4]

In late 2023, Mobius MD introduced Conveyor AI, entering the ambient clinical intelligence market. The product uses generative artificial intelligence to synthesize physician-patient conversations into structured clinical notes.[5]

Technology

A key characteristic of Mobius MD's technology is its "universal compatibility" architecture. Rather than building deep API integrations with individual EMR vendors, the software functions at the operating system level by inserting text into the active cursor field of any application, similar to a physical keyboard.[3]

In July 2022, the company was granted U.S. Patent 11,392,217 B2 for a "System and Method for Providing a Wireless Input Device." This patent covers the company's USB peripheral, which allows a mobile device to transmit dictated text to a computer as standard keyboard character codes (HID keyboard emulation).[6]

Products and Services

  • Conveyor AI: An ambient AI scribe that uses natural language processing to generate structured clinical documentation from patient encounters.[5]
  • Mobius Conveyor: A medical dictation app for iOS that enables real-time transcription on Windows and Mac computers.
  • Mobius Clinic: A specialized mobile interface designed for the athenahealth AthenaClinicals platform.[1]
  • Conveyor USB: A hardware-based connection tool that enables dictation on systems where local software installation is restricted by administrative policies.[6]

Security and Compliance

Mobius MD software is designed to comply with HIPAA and HITECH Act standards. The organization has achieved HITRUST Common Security Framework (CSF) certification, which involves third-party audits of data protection and risk management protocols.[7] All software development and data processing are maintained within the United States.[2]

Corporate Affairs

Mobius MD operates as an independent, "bootstrapped" company with no venture capital or private equity backing.[2][8] The majority of the company is owned by its founders and a group of medical practitioners. As of 2026, the company continues to be led by co-founder Adam Strom, who serves as President.[8]
