Kristin Engvig (born 28 December 1966 in Kristiansund, Norway) is a Norwegian entrepreneur and conference organizer. She is the founder and chief executive of Women's International Networking (WIN), which has organized annual leadership conferences for women professionals since 1998.[1][2]
Early life and education
Engvig was born and raised in Kristiansund, Norway, in a family with a background in photography.[3] She studied business economics at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, and subsequently earned an MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan.[1]
Career
After completing her MBA, Engvig worked in finance and consulting roles. In 1997 she founded Women's International Networking (WIN), a women's leadership organization, and held its first annual conference in Milan in 1998.[3][2] The Aftenposten wrote in 2013 that the annual WIN conference gathered around a thousand women leaders from different countries.[3]
WIN has held annual conferences in various European cities. A 2007 report by Nettavisen noted that Engvig had gathered 700 women from 60 nations at a WIN conference in Oslo.[4] According to a 2017 article in Dagens Næringsliv, by that year approximately 14,000 participants had attended WIN conferences.[5] In 2018 a conference was held in Rome with nearly 600 participants from 90 countries.[6] WIN is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.[6]
In June 2022, Engvig was a plenary speaker at the International Leadership Association's Women and Leadership conference, held at the University of Portsmouth.[7]
