Igitu (እግቱ), born Tigist Hailu, is an Ethiopian singer-songwriter and actress from Addis Ababa. She came to wider attention through her 2018 single "Lebe Mala" and was later featured by BBC Amharic and Voice of America among notable Ethiopian artists.[1][2]

Career

Igitu released her debut single "Lebe Mala" (ልቤ ማላ) in 2018, followed by "30:40" featuring Ahadu in 2019 and "Tidar" (ትዳር) in 2021. Her 2023 single "Rega" (ረጋ) was covered by the Ethiopian news outlet Borkena on its release.[3]

In September 2024, BBC Amharic included her in a feature profiling Ethiopia's leading singers.[1] Voice of America's Africa service similarly profiled her as an Ethiopian artist gaining international recognition.[2]

In 2024 she served as a judge on Demo Addis, a music competition broadcast on Walta TV. She also holds a recurring role in Gizat, a drama series on Abol TV.
