Frontier Design is a Toronto based brand and experience design studio founded in 2014 that works across brand strategy, identity, communications, wayfinding, placemaking, and digital design.
Recognition
In 2023, Frontier received the RGD Branding Award - Integrated Award for its brand identity work for the Black Architects and Interior Designers Association of Canada (BAIDA).[1]
In 2024, they received the Azure Experiential Graphic Design Award for their work on Wayfinding & Signage for the Renzo Piano designed New Toronto Courthouse.[2]
In 2025, they received several RGD Branding Awards including RGD Element - Digital Award for its identity work for the NXNE 30th Anniversary.[3] They also received the Medium Creative Agency of the Year award [4] and the Element Award in Motion for their short film promoting The James, an apartment building in Toronto designed by COBE architects in Denmark. [5] Finally, they received the Element Award for Print for their concept, editorial, and design work for Set Pieces, a book featuring the Performing Arts work of Toronto Architecture Firm, Diamond Schmitt Architects. [6] which also won the 2025 RAIC Architectural Journalism and Media Award [7]
In 2025 they also received the Print Magazine First Place Award for Type Design for their work with Growtown. [8]
Notable Projects
In 2015, Frontier created The World's Best Tuque, a research and design project to develop a high-performance winter hat. That project was featured in several publications including Toronto Life, Toronto Star, Outside Online, and FastCo Design. [9] [10] [11] [12]
