Daniel E. Ruarte
Daniel E. Ruarte (Ed.D.) is an Argentine-American educator, theologian, pastor, and academic administrator in the Pentecostal tradition. He serves as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Life Pacific University (LPU) in San Dimas, California, where he oversees all degree programs, faculty, library services, and the registrar's office.[1] Ruarte is recognized for his contributions to Pentecostal higher education, leadership development, and ministry training, particularly within Hispanic and Foursquare Church contexts.[2] As a bilingual author and speaker, he has published several books in Spanish on leadership, ecclesiology, and pastoral studies, and he actively bridges academic scholarship with practical church planting and pastoral work. His leadership extends to global initiatives, including the Global Association for Foursquare Theological Education (GAFTE),[3] and he emphasizes transforming lives through Spirit-empowered education. Ruarte's multifaceted career reflects a commitment to developing leaders who impact communities and the world for God's glory.
Early Life and Education
Dr Ruarte emigrated to the United State in 1999 from Mendoza, Argentina, where he pursued higher education and ministry. His background includes practical experience as an entrepreneur and business owner, suggesting early involvement in diverse professional endeavors before focusing on theological and educational pursuits.
Ruarte's formal education began with a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry from the Facultad de Teología Internacional (International Faculty of Theology). He earned a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Azusa Pacific University (APU), followed by a second Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership from Life Pacific University. He completed his doctoral studies with an Ed.D. in Education, emphasizing Organizational Change and Leadership, from the University of Southern California (USC), one of the nation's premier private secular universities. This blend of theological and educational training has equipped him to integrate pastoral heart with academic rigor in his roles.
Academic Career
Ruarte's academic career is centered on Pentecostal higher education, with a focus on leadership and ministry programs. He joined Life Pacific University as an adjunct professor and rose to founding program director of the Master of Arts in Leadership, where he led the development of three new academic programs: the MA in Leadership, an Associate in General Studies, and an Associate in Biblical Studies. He prepared and submitted the official proposal for accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). In January 2023, he was appointed Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, a role in which he continues to advance LPU's academics through godly leadership, research, stakeholder engagement, and grant writing. As an Assistant Professor, he teaches graduate courses such as Praxis and Theory of Leadership and Administration, and Personal Life of the Leader.
Prior to his full-time role at LPU, Ruarte served as an adjunct professor in theology, ministry, leadership, and Bible at Indiana Wesleyan University, Azusa Pacific University, and Life Pacific University. His research interests include leadership development, ecclesiology, and the integration of education with Spirit-filled discipleship. He has spoken at conferences, such as the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) annual meetings,[4] and contributed to collaborative projects like a $5 million Lilly Endowment grant partnership between APU, LPU, and LABI for Hispanic theological education.[5] Ruarte also leads GAFTE, promoting Foursquare theological education globally. As of 2026, he continues to advocate for innovative programs, including LPU's fastest-growing online BA in Ministry and Leadership.
Ministry and Community Involvement
Ordained in the Foursquare Church, Ruarte has over 20 years of experience as a senior pastor and church planter. He currently pastors Casa de Su Presencia (House of His Presence) in Long Beach, California, a Latino congregation, and has previously led La Iglesia en el Camino.[6] His ministry emphasizes educational mission, using biblical examples and church history to encourage embracing education for forming Spirit-filled disciples. Ruarte is a sought-after speaker on topics like leadership, prophetic ministry, and Pentecostal higher education, appearing on podcasts such as The Speak Life Podcast.
His community involvement includes entrepreneurial ventures and business ownership, reflecting a holistic approach to ministry that integrates faith with practical life skills.
