The Daniel family of Virginia is an American family with documented roots in colonial Virginia dating to the seventeenth century. The family traces its presence in the colony to Captain William Daniell, who appears in land records of Middlesex County, Virginia, beginning in the 1670s.[1] Members of the family held land along the Rappahannock River and later produced a number of prominent figures in American law, politics, diplomacy, religion, and reform movements.
