Cullipool (Scottish Gaelic: Culapul)[1] is a village on the northwest coast of the island of Luing,[2] in the civil parish of Kilbrandon and Kilchattan, in the council area of Argyll and Bute, Scotland.[3] It is the principal settlement of the island.[4][5] In 1961 it had a population of 84.[6] Cullipool has a village hall.[7]
History
The name "Cullipool" may be Gaelic for "boat pool"[8] or Norse for "coal farm".[9]
