Chasing Clara is a Filipino alternative rock band from Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines.
History
Chasing Clara traces its origins to 2010 at Saint Francis of Assisi College Taguig Campus. The band's earliest incarnation was known as the Franciscan Band.
Original members included vocalist Arjay Buena and drummer Joseph Peter "Otep" Montemayor. Montemayor invited his friend John Vincent "Cent" Mabignay to join as rhythm guitarist. Mabignay later recruited former bandmate Keith Beja as lead guitarist, while Jerustom Mariano joined as bassist.
Following graduation, the band became inactive for a period. Buena, Montemayor, and Mabignay later continued performing together and recruited vocalist Nikka Santiago.
Santiago departed from the group in 2015. Buena, Montemayor, and Mabignay continued as a trio and began focusing on original compositions under the name Chapter III.
In early 2018, Mabignay recruited bassist Julius Caesar "Juls" Caballero. The lineup consisted of Buena on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Mabignay on lead guitar, Caballero on bass guitar, and Montemayor on drums.
In 2021, Mabignay recruited guitarist Jansen Quintana. The group subsequently adopted the name Chasing Clara and released original material, including the single "Lindol".
In 2022, Montemayor, Caballero, and Mabignay departed from the band. Later that year, bassist Klen Bagnu and drummer Rhendel Ison joined the lineup.
In late 2023, Mabignay returned to the band as rhythm guitarist.
In 2025, Buena married his longtime partner Caren Bacsid. As of 2026, Chasing Clara remains active and continues to write, record, and perform original music.
