BB (cocktail)
The BB is a high-energy cocktail made with Guinness stout, Vodka, and Red Bull. It is typically served in a pint glass. The name "BB" is widely understood to stand for "Black Bastard," a reference to the drink's dark color from the Guinness and its reputation for causing extreme intoxication.
History
The BB was reportedly created in 2002 by two recently graduated doctors from Leicester Medical School, Dr. Andrew Pickering and Dr. Andrew Whitaker. The cocktail was conceived during a trip to Dublin and was an impromptu combination of ingredients. The drink is popular among students at UTS University and is a featured drink on the annual snow trip of the "SKIBUTS" University ski and snowboard society.
Recipe
The standard recipe for the BB is as follows:
0.5 pint of Guinness stout
2 shots of Vodka
Half a can of Red Bull
Instructions:
Pour the vodka into a pint glass.
Add half a can of Red Bull to the glass.
Top off the drink with 0.5 pint of Guinness stout.
Comparison to Irish Car Bomb
The BB shares some similarities with the Irish Car Bomb, another cocktail that uses Guinness as a base. While the Irish Car Bomb traditionally combines Guinness with a dropped shot of Irish whiskey and Baileys Irish Cream, the BB uses vodka and Red Bull. Both are known for their strong flavor and high alcohol content, and their names are references to their potent nature.
