Carlos Miranda (born December 2, 1984) is an American actor from San Francisco, California, best known for his role as Theo Ruiz on the ABC drama series Station 19, and for appearing on the Starz drama series Vida and the upcoming Netflix series The Boroughs, produced by the Duffer Brothers.

Early life and education

Miranda was born and raised in San Francisco, California, where he developed an early passion for storytelling and performance. He later relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting professionally.

Career

Miranda began his career appearing in short films and independent projects before landing a role in Gavin O'Connor's Warrior (2011 film) and a supporting role in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, which premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.[1]

After guest stars on NBC series Chicago P.D. (TV series) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Miranda landed his first series regular role as Johnny on the Starz short-lived yet critically acclaimed series Vida.

He gained wider recognition portraying Theo Ruiz on the ABC drama series Station 19, a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff created by Stacy McKee and produced by Shondaland. Miranda joined the series in its fourth season and was promoted to series regular, appearing in over 50 episodes from 2021 to 2024.[2]

In 2024, Miranda was announced as part of the ensemble cast of the Netflix supernatural mystery series The Boroughs, created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things). Miranda portrays Paz alongside Geena Davis, Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman, Denis O'Hare, Clarke Peters, and Jena Malone. The eight-episode series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.[3]
