Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts (AvM Shorts) is an American Flash animated web series created by Alan Becker. The series originated from the 2015 animated short Animation vs. Minecraft, which was released on YouTube on December 14, 2015, and focuses on the adventures of the Stick Gang in the world of Minecraft. It is a spin off to Animator vs. Animation.
Premise
The series revolves around a group of stickmen on a Windows 10 PC living their daily lives. After discovering the video game Minecraft, they use it in their daily activities and go on adventures together. The series has alternated between episodic, slice of life adventures and serialized story arcs within the series.
Characters
- The Second Coming (TSC) / Orange: He is an orange stick figure accidentally created by the Animator in a 2014 short. He is the leader of the Stick Gang.[1]
- Red: A red stick figure that loves animals. He is reckless and most impulsive of the Stick Gang.
- Blue: A cyan stick figure that likes farming and brewing potions. He's been described as a "hippie" and has an addiction to Nether Wart.
- Yellow: A yellow stick figure that is proficient in Redstone engineering.
- Green: A lime stick figure who likes music and is The Second Coming's best friend. He is arrogant and, as karma, suffers the most out of the Stick Gang.
- Purple: A purple stick figure that has had ups and downs in their relationship with the Stick Gang, before becoming an honorary member following the events of Season 3. Purple is rarely seen without his Elytra.
- King Orange: A tall, mango stick figure that wielded a staff and had plans to destroy the entirety of Minecraft in Season 3.

|
The Second Coming rediscovers the Minecraft game icon, which had possibly been reinstalled following its deletion in Animation vs. Minecraft, and hides it from his friends, before revealing it and informs them to get what they need. Green gets building blocks while Blue collects farming items. After Yellow takes out redstone components, before handing the game icon over to Red, he recalls what Red did last time and hesitates; however, Red, handed the game icon while traps are set up for him, uses it to just spawn rabbits, to which Green responded by knocking him over using a diamond helmet.

|
The Second Coming holds a building contest for the Stick Gang, giving out blocks to each member, and sets up the contest's topic, an excavator, and a timer in Google, beginning the contest. Red, seeing the word "CAT" on the pictured excavator, has the idea of spawning a cat on top of his build. While Yellow and Blue quickly leaped through the challenge, Green is initially seen struggling with the block choice; however, after the contest, after having reviewed all of the builds, The Second Coming claims Green as the winner for having a build that outstands the others, to which Blue and Yellow respond by exploding it with a TNT.

|
While experimenting with redstone, Yellow accidentally breaks a block from the computer interface floor and tries to cover it up, but later discovers a cave, with a mineshaft, underneath the entire floor, where he also discovers rails and minecarts, out of which he later decides to build a ginormous roller coaster. He invites his friends to try out the entire system, with The Second Coming hesistating at first. Initially an extending tunnel (with ups and downs, bouncing pistons, and a fake lava path), the roller coaster introduces a gigantic open cave that splits the riders into four routes, zigzags them together, cycles them through a circle path, and ends with a fake outro that later causes them to fall down to another part which finally leads to where Yellow is waiting for them to arrive through a ramp. However, the ramp does not give the team enough momentum to get to the other side, causing them to plummet.

|
While harvesting and planting crops, Blue discovers he can brew up potions and drink them. Initially through a cauldron with fire lit underneath, potions can also be brewed using a brewing stand, which first needs to be fueled using blaze powder. Blue then repeats the process of brewing and testing different potions. Red spawns a pig and leashes it, and the pig leads him to Blue, who is drunk and awakened by Red. Unnoticed, the pig drinks all of the potions behind Blue, inflicting itself multiple different effects and superpowers, and goes on a rampage, causing trouble for the Stick Gang, who fights back. The pig's effects eventually wear off, and the pig falls dead, much to the sadness of Red, who then spawns a llama as his new pet, which spits at him.

|
While testing out different chicken statue designs, Blue and Red discover note blocks, which, when hit, make a sound based on the block underneath, and figure out music making, intriguing Yellow, who adds redstone. Green shows off his great music skills, and the Stick Gang creates an entire band with instruments like drums, the piano, and the guitar, much to The Second Coming's inability to sleep, causing him to lower the computer's volume down. The band then plays at maximum volume.
| 6 | 6 | "Command Blocks" | Alan Becker | April 18, 2018 | |
|
Yellow scrolls past the Minecraft hotbar's limit, discovers command blocks, which are used to run certain commands; receives an instruction paper about their usage, which he quickly learns; and pranks Red with an operation involving a teleporting cake, an armor stand instructing to shoot an apple on its head, and a lever causing a rain of infinite cake when flicked. Red realizes Yellow's operation and decides to do magic tricks for Blue and Green to see with an operation involving a magical hat producing infinite rabbits, which are turned into zombies using a wand and shot with lightning strikes and fireballs. However, as rain comes, one lightning strike hits a command block, infecting every command block, causing chaos for the Stick Gang. Then another one is striked, causing the entire computer to glitch out. The Second Coming manages to restart the computer, and Yellow throws his command blocks in a fire afterward.

While the Stick Gang is split into two sides (Red, Green and Blue; The Second Coming and Yellow) building their own houses, one house interferes with the other, causing a conflict and eventually a PvP battle between the teams. The PvP battle is long, including actions such as Red spawning iron golems and snow golems, The Second Coming throwing an exploding TNT, Yellow creating a wall of dispensers shooting arrows, Green escaping using an ender pearl, Green vandalising, The Second Coming fighting back, Blue and Red being invisible, Yellow exposing Blue and Red using milk, and Green attempting to blow up tons of TNT in The Second Coming and Yellow's house. Seeing this, The Second Coming delivers the final blows to Green in an act of defense, but quickly come to realize he killed Green, making the Stick Gang sad while Green fortunately respawns in their website house (Stick Figures Fight) and comes to surprise the Stick Gang, who has set up a funeral for him. When surprised, The Second Coming quickly kills Green again.
