ALTPHILAS (an acronym for Alternative Philanthropic Association) is a non-profit organization based in Seville, Spain.[1] Operating as a micro-charity, the association collects recurring contributions from its members and allocates funds to a selected non-governmental organization (NGO) each month.[1]
Functioning
ALTPHILAS operates using a collective giving model. Members contribute a fixed monthly sum to a general fund, which is subsequently distributed to a nominated recipient organization without deduction of administrative fees.[1] Beneficiary organizations are chosen through a monthly voting process by the membership. The organization focuses primarily on supporting small non-governmental organizations operating in fields such as child welfare, social inclusion, and environmental protection.[1]
History
The initiative was formed in late 2023 and registered as a legal non-profit association in Spain in 2024.[1]
During its first year of activity in 2024, the group distributed over €3,000 to beneficiary projects. By mid-2025, the association had reached twenty donations and expanded to over fifty participating members.[1] By 2026, cumulative donations exceeded €10,000.
Recipient organizations have included Association Sunce, Fondazione Dottor Sorriso, Emfasis Foundation, and Associação Sol.
Organization
The association operates without paid staff or permanent administrative headquarters, relying on volunteer administration.[1] Member participation and administrative voting are conducted through online channels.
